To those who knew him, it came as no surprise when Walter Roberts received the Salzburg Cup, the highest honor Salzburg Global Seminar bestows for service to the institution, in 2010.
For 64 years, Roberts was among Salzburg Global’s most devoted champions, serving as a faculty member, Board Member and Senior Fellow. He was joined by his wife, Gisela, and son, William and daughter-in-law, Patricia, at numerous programs at Schloss Leopoldskron.
Two years after his death in 2014, his three sons — William, Charles, and Lawrence — saw an opportunity to honor their father’s legacy. As an early Campaign gift, the Roberts family funded the renovation of the Walter and Gisela Roberts Suite in the Schloss.
The family has also created a scholarship endowment in their parents’ names to help bring rising stars to Salzburg for generations to come. They invite the Salzburg Global community to join them in expanding the Walter and Gisela Roberts Endowment Fund.
