A message from Stephen L. Salyer, President and CEO of Salzburg Global Seminar
Dear Friends,
As Salzburg Global prepares to transition from my presidency to Martin Weiss’ leadership next week, I am delighted to send one last note announcing the successful completion of the Inspiring Leadership Campaign.
With the goal of raising $18 million, the Inspiring Leadership Campaign was Salzburg Global’s largest-ever fundraising campaign. When we first discussed the feasibility of such a campaign, some felt we lacked a pool of contributors sufficient to raise funds at this scale in addition to meeting challenging annual operating and program funding goals. However, after raising $9 million during a “quiet period,” we had faith that our story of impact and community of supporters would be willing to invest in the institution’s future success and growing impact.
I am proud to report that we have exceeded our goal by raising $18.3 million! Contributions came from across the globe - from Austria, the Philippines, Ghana, Mexico, and the US, to name a few. In addition, a significant part of the total raised came from Salzburg Global Fellows and staff, whose belief in the organization’s impact has never wavered. I am proud of what we have accomplished and cannot thank you all enough for your support of the organization.
This ambitious effort will enable us to invest in our programs, people, and place and sustain for future generations our groundbreaking programs, leadership development, and historic home of Schloss Leopoldskron. Ever since I became a Salzburg Global Fellow almost 50 years ago, our community of present and future leaders has been dear to my heart. My role will change next week, but I look forward to supporting this work for years to come. Together we are launching the Seminar into a higher orbit. Thank you so much for helping achieve such impressive results and for your continuing belief in this unique organization.
